that’s what I’ve been doing but I thought there must be a way to convert and crop through compressor to keep it digital. I thought I saw someone demonstrate it at NAB but I can’t figre it out. As for the response before yours, if there is obvious documentation as to how to do this, I cannot find it!

can’t blame the guy for covering some extra bases to help solve his problem. I’ve been in the same situation where posting in more than one forum may get better results. Maybe you should cut him some slack B.

also try throwing away your audio render files. I’ve hada similar problems with my system. I’ll either trash the audio render files or export the audio as an Aiff file and re-import that file back into the timeline. Seems to work most every time.

Interesting Gary and excellent advice. I am aware of needing to transfer the clip to a new project in order for FRC to work. But what’s interesting about your recommendation is the fact that I did have to use capture now because I kept getting dropped frame erros on batch capture. I just assumed it had something to do with the time lapse recording creating broken time code. So I’ll do a batch capture with the “abort when detecting time code break” off and see what happens. But I really like your idea of simply using the 23.98 setting. Go figure!

Ok now I’m getting confused. First, my goal was to shoot a time lapse sequence. It was recommended that I shoot at 6fps at an interval of 10 frames every 2 seconds to get a nice sunset time lapse. I was also under the impression that I could then use the frame rate converter to smooth the time lapse footage out. Beyond that, I had no idea how it all workedout until I actually brought the footage in to FCP and used the converter. With these assumptions apparently wrong, how should I have done it?

Walter, I’ve tried your suggestions. Mostly just creating a new project and importing the clip to see if it would the work. Unfortunately it didn’t. And, unfortunately, I’m using the old 130 HD deck which does not have the firewire out, just the HDSDI, so I can’t use the other DVCPro HD 720/60 firewire preset. Somehow I think that would work too! Guess I’m stuck with Kona. Any other thoughts?

I think you are correct Jeff. This would most likely be accessed with a computer. Seems popular nowadays for bands to include a little extra with their music CDs. This is what this band wants. so do you think it’s still an mpeg1 file they’ll need?

where might I purchase fcprescue? There’s many references to it, but I’m a bit unclair on who makes it and where to get it. thanks

Noah, what about the issue of the motion default at 29.97 when my FCP timeline is at 59.94. Is there any issue? Like I said, my current projects appear to look ok, but I’m sure it has something to do with my Kona card down converting to 29.97 and making everything look nice!
Also, while I’m at it, because I’m also working in uncompressed 4:2:2 59.94 HD, do I export my Quicktime motion movie as uncompressed 4:2:2. Sorry to be Mr. Obvious, but I seem to be struggling with proper workflow.
thanks

Thanks Noah. I went ahead and did a test. The original motion project file was duplicated and placed into the media bin generated by FCP. BUT, any media used seperately in the motion project was not duplicated so, apparently, if you don’t manually copy and back up the video used in your motion project, you won’t have it in the archive. Yet, I fail to believe that this still can’t be done automatically somehow? Then again, I’m only running version 1.0.1.
Any other thoughts?
