There are two possible reason as to why your video looks so different in PPro than in what I assume is your media viewer of choice. The first reason is that Premiere Pro will downres your media while you’re viewing your edited sequence so that it doesn’t suck up all your processing power just to preview some changes. The second reason may be that since you aren’t altering your source footage before it comes into PPro, you may be editing in the H264 codec that your GoPro shoots to. This is not an easy codec to work with in most NLEs. Most users transcode or convert their footage before bringing into the NLE so that they can edit with faster responses and better video quality. If you’re using a Mac, I would suggest using my company’s new tool, Edit Ready. Edit Ready allows you to quickly and easily transcode your source footage before beginning your edits, in any of the major editing codecs. A tool that you might consider using in your workflow is Edit Ready from my company, Divergent Media. We have a powerful metadata viewer that allows you to edit existing metadata keys as well as add your own custom and unique metadata entries. This is particularly helpful in Blackmagic Camera models as they include unique metadata keys that are directly accessible in most NLEs. While this is an extra step in your workflow, we have a few features in Edit Ready that I think you’ll find extremely useful. Download a free trial and see how you like it at https://www.divergentmedia.com/editready

  • A software based tool that you might consider is Edit Ready. My company, Divergent Media, just put together this workflow solution, and it sounds like it might be what you’re looking for. If I understand correctly, you’re looking to take multiple files with different frame rates and convert them into a one frame rate setting (such as 25fps). Edit Ready allows you to load multiple clips, each with different source settings and output them using custom presets to your project settings. You can download a limited free trial from our website at https://www.divergentmedia.com/editready.

    Hope this helps.
