    Um,

That’s a really cool effect. With Motion 5 there is a similar effect [filters>distort>droplet], but its hard to make it look like it’s in a 3D space. Besides that, I really don’t see anything else in Motion that could create that effect.

    Ed Bates,

I know your frustration. I had the same problem. As it turns out, Edge Collision is what you need to use, but you just need to know how. Here is a link to a video I made that the particles bounce off the wall.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96moYANG5jw&feature=youtube_gdata
I cannot tell exactly tell you what I did. Here is a picture of the HUD.

I’m aslo going to give you the link to the project I made. Click on the link and download my Motion project. Once open under the emitter group, you’ll find the Edge Collision effect applied.

Play around with the settings I used. Here’s the link, https://www.dropbox.com/sh/drpmlmoq932z3df/Babp7FBd4R/Shutter%20Wall Download all the media as well as the Motion project. You should be able to see how the particles bounce off the wall I made.

    I hope this really helped,

    AJ

If you want to have the fog behind the person and/or the boat all you have to do is duplicate the layer, and move one of the layers into a new group (if so desired). On the TOP MOST LAYER OR GROUP mask out the man and other objects you want to include. Now Turn off this layer or group. On the BOTTOM MOST LAYER OR GROUP add your fog. Now turn on you top layer, and now your man will be on top. If it looks to sharp, apply a little feather to the mask.

    Hope this helps,

    AJ

  • Heya guys well thanks a lot. Apple ProRes4444 works.
Stephen smith, the problem with what you said is that Motion 5 cannot export to an animation. If it could, I would have done this. Motion 5’s exporting menu is very limited. I think I included a picture of it’s options. Plus, from Motion, there is no option to chose for Millions of colors +. Also, for users who don’t have FCP like me or want to put up keyed footage for others to use, you want to be able to export with a trans BKG.
You were right in a sense. Motion 5 doesn’t have Animation as a codec, but since I converted my video to a Animation codec, then in Motion I left the codec on [current settings], thus exporting it as an Animation.
So, exporting you videos with the codec as ProRes 4444 and setting the BKG to transparent will make your video’s BKG transparent. Thanks all.

  • Fortunately, you can create all of that in Motion’s great features, but as far as making professional titles, you can go with LiveType (another apple product) https://www.apple.com/support/livetype/.

It is easy to create the badfilm look with apple motion, Filters>Stylize>Bad Film, or Bad TV
If you want to create your own custom scratches you can use the bezier draw tool special brushes.

You can make a shuddering effect two ways; Making a new camera and applying random motion (behaviors>simulations>random motion) to the cam, or you can apply the earthquake effect, (filters>distortion>earthquake) to the text.

Depending on the title, and some intermediate skills, you could create a good looking title matching your description in Motion.

Thanks. I saw that, and didn’t think it worked.
Didn’t know how to use it. I kinda got the hang of it now. Thanks

Thanks for the help, but nothing is still working right. Maybe I’ll just have to reinstall.

    I’m sorry,
But what do you mean by deleting the preferences?

    Thanks for you time.

Yes, I found out that that works, but it doesn’t really get the same look. Thank you though.
