The Ki Pro clip creation date corresponds to the date and time settings that are set in the CONFIG menu parameters. Note that Ki Pro uses GMT (UTC) for the date and time settings. The Ki Pro can also use the time setting for the timecode value via the TC In CONFIG menu parameter when Time of Day is selected. If you have questions about configuring the Ki Pro in terms of date, time and timecode settings, please don’t hesitate to contact AJA Technical Support via phone or email, Monday through Friday, between 9am and 5pm PST.

If you have experienced an issue with the FireWire 800 port on your Ki Pro Storage Module, please contact AJA Technical Support for assistance. They can arrange for an RMA of the unit if it isn’t operating as expected. As noted in this thread, the data can be offloaded via the FW800 port on the back of the Ki Pro itself or via the web UI and the LAN connector on the Ki Pro. If you need assistance configuring the Ki Pro for either of these data transfer methods, AJA Technical Support will also be happy to help you with this in addition to arranging an RMA for the Storage Module.

If you have not already, please consider contacting AJA Technical Support for assistance. You may reach them via phone or email between 9am and 5pm PST. Files are exported and used on the Ki Pro products for a variety of screenings around the world.
As a general rule, QuickTime files should have the following basic attributes:
– Name
– Media Start
– Media End
– Duration
– ReelNote: If you have already created a clip and it does not have these attributes, you might consider modifying the clip via the Modify option in Final Cut Pro 7; the Timecode selection allows you to modify the Reel in addition to the timecode value.
Additionally, the following guidelines are specific to media that is designated for use on the Ki Pro products:
– Apple ProRes 422, Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), Apple ProRes 422 (LT) or Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy) encoding is required
– full raster video (1920×1080 or 1280×720 or 720×486 or 720×576) is required
– the use of a supported frame rate (23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 50 or 59.94 – with certain frame rates specific to formats; 1080p 50 and 1080p 59.94 is not support on the Ki Pro for example)
– 24-bit, 48kHz dual mono or stereo channel grouped, 2 channel or 8 channel, Linear PCM audio is required
– a valid, single timecode track is required
– file names that don’t contain illegal values are required; standard character and number values without any characters “out of the norm” like: !, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, (, ), -, +, _, =, etc.
– clips must be placed in the “AJA” folder on the drive; files placed in the root directory of the Ki Pro Storage Module will not appear in the list on the front panel of the deviceAgain, if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact AJA Technical Support. They will be happy to help.

If the unit was still recording the file or the file closing was not completed when the unit was incorrectly powered down, and the file was written to the disk, but is not opening as expected when the media is connected to a computer, you may want to consult with Aeroquartet:
https://aeroquartet.com/movierepair/repairThis service has recovered, to the best of AJA’s knowledge, all accidental Ki Pro media mis-handlings.

Ki Pro units were originally designed as camera recorders, not as pseudo-VTR ISO recorders. Because of this, they were designed to stop recording during a loss of video to alert the user that an issue had occurred between the camera output and the Ki Pro. Since users want to use the products as general video recorders with live feeds, switchers and other sources which may have signal disruptions, AJA added a Loss of Video feature to the product beginning with version 3.0 firmware. By default, this CONFIG menu parameter is set to the original behavior of the device, to stop recording when a loss of video is encountered. But the parameter allows the user to select continue recording during a loss of video. For live situations, with potentially inconsistent signals, where the Ki Pros are being used as a general video recorder, the Loss of Video CONFIG menu parameter should probably be set to CONT Rec for the reasons noted. You can learn more about the Loss of Video feature in the Ki Pro operation manual, page 64:
