You can’t echo a layer’s animation. It doesn’t work that way. Echo looks at frames of video to create the effect. A lyer’s animation is just a still image being moves around.
However – it CAN be done!
Pre-compose all animation, and then bring that comp into a new comp (in other words, nest it in a new comp). Then apply the echo effect to the nested comp.

I use Techsmith Camtasia Studio which gives you the option to trun on different markers for the cursor and cursor actions (such as the red and blue mouse clicks you see in my tutorials).

Trapcode Particular is good, but it doesn’t have a lot of presets so making effects from scratch can be difficult.
I use wondertouch particleIllusion for most of my particle needs – especially anything like sparkles. There are a ton of presets (1900+).

I ran into this problem a few weeks ago when I installed pIllusion on XP 64. There’s a special patch for registered users.

In AE or pillusion?
If pIllusion, chenge your frame rate to something slower, like 10 FPS or even 5. Maybe that will slow it down.

Well, you can do it with particleIllusion -which costs $400.
You can load a movie into the BG and the play the movie while recording the position of your emitter. Then you can export the data into AE.
I’m not saying this is the best way, but I’m pretty sure it works. You can actually do the mosaic distortion with pIllusion, BTW – but I’d stick with AE.

BG can’t be played during Motion sketch. At best, you can get one frame.
That’s just the way it is.
