    Sounds like an Open GL problem, not related to pIllusion. However, try checking the following option:

    view > Preferences > Open GL Tab > “Don’t use Texture RAM for Background images.”

    See if activating this option helps.

    This is a bit out of my area of knowledge, but it’s worth a shot.

    Glad it helped, but I cannot take credit for it, alas. Dan Ebberts (Creative cow AE forum leader) who helped me out a buch on my DVD figured out just how to do it. It took me a long time to understand what that little script was doing.

    His website has a lot of great stuff along those lines:

    https://www.motionscript.com/

    Warning! Shameless plug here:

    Again, if you’re doing a lot of this sort of thing, about a 3rd of my DVD is dedicated to position data between AE and pIllusion – things like simple keyframe exchange, as well as more complicated stuff like the question you asked, as well as offsetting the position from a layer’s anchor point (so an emitter can be emitted from somewhere other than the center of an AE layer)- which is not as easy as you’d think.

    Again, glad I could help.

    Hey there-

    First things first – update your video drivers – Download the latest ones from the company’s website (that made your video card). If that doesn’t help let us know.

    The problem is that the C4D camera and the AE Camera are both 3D. pIllusion camera is 2D.

    I deal with this very subject in my AE training DVD, paarticleIllusion Fusion Volume 1 (https://www.pillusionfusion.com/) – the section is called coverting 3D position data into 2D position data.

    This is going to be hard to explain in print, but basically, you need to create an expression that gives a null object (or temporary solid layer) the equivilent position in 2D of the target object (or layer’s) 3D position.

    Give the position value of your 2D layer this expression:

    L = thisComp.layer(“YOUR LAYER”);
    L.toComp(L.anchorPoint);

    Where “Your Layer” becomes the name of your 3D layer.

    Then you need to select the position value and use the keyframe assistant called “Convert expressions to Keyframes.” Then export those keyframes to AE.

    hope that helps.

  • Thanks for the kind words, Lee. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

    I’m pretty proud of that Sesame Street bit – All of the sounds (including trumpets, singing and projector clicks) all came out of my mouth. Obviously I played with the audio a bit…

    I actually used to work for Sesame Street, and the original spoof I did for the DVD was a little too close to the mark. Friends advised me to change it so as not to get sued. But I’m glad it’s clear what I was going for.

    Thanks again!

  • not really, but in searching other styles of music I came accross comedy music and found some other stuff that worked.

    I don’t have real player (I absolutely hate it) so I couldn’t play stuff off that site, BTW.

    Wouldn’t mind though if i did find a similar piece.

    Thanks.

  • This is definately not the best place for this sort of thing as this is the particleIllusion forum. You were probably directed here because particleIllusion is a program that could likely handle this sort of thing, and it is sheduled for release as a plug-in for After Effects in the near future (some time in june?).

    If you are not using particleIllusion (which produces nice particle effects such as fireworks) you might try using the effect in after effects called “particle system 2”.

    It’s not that simple to use, though it’s much easier to work with then “Particle Playground.” You might try asking for help in the AE forum specifically on the subject of that effect.

    Are you having some kind of problem where your images look funny? Please explain whats going on.

    Cruddy images can be the result of several things, including, but not limited to, older drivers for your video card, your stage being zoomed in or out, plus a few other things like a bad particle image.

    May 18, 2005 at 12:48 pm in reply to: Changing Framesize & “Slow Motion” ?

    Glad it worked. I want to point out that when using this method, the issue’s that pop up from using an image sequence, like in my debris emitter is that the rotation of the debris (which is a moving sequence, not just pilluison spin), ends up playing too fast. It’s not that it’s playing too fast for normal speed, it’s that it is playing too fast for slow motion. They should be rotating really slowly, but they end up rotating at their normal speed.

    If I were slowing the speed down to 1/8 the original speed (by changing to 240 FPS), then I would probably need to remake the 3D image sequence to be play 1/8 the speed.

    It’s one of the limitations for slowing things down that this method has.

    You could go into the emitter shape tab (properties) and slow down the sequence, but all that does it make the image update slower, which makes the animation look stepped and jerky in this case.
