OK, so given my budget restrictions, if I got a JVC-BRHD50U and shot in 720P edited in 720P and outputted to 720P onto MiniDV would it be acceptable for broadcast? This would be for something like inserting tags at the end of 30sec spots.

Well, that’s a bummer. I guess I’m not ready for the full HD jump just yet. Should I buy the deck or more cards? I mean if I buy more cards, I can shoot in 720p but I can’t deliver a finished product without down converting to MiniDV or Beta SP. If I buy the deck I’ll be ready to output to an HD format as well as import HD footage I might get from outside sources.
John,
No I don’t have approval for a laptop. I plan on purchasing a new MacPro to replace my Dual 1Ghz PowerPC G4. I guess I’m looking for buying advice on the best configuration of the G5 with maybe some money left to buy a couple more P2 cards.
thanks

Shane,
Why won’t the ProMax work for output? I’m using one too and I’m going to be upgrading my system soon. The ProMax has both in and out analog signals. I was hoping to keep it and spend more on the Mac.

Walter, I agree with you I want to upgrade my FCP and my Mac. I need to get as much bang for my buck as possible and was wondering how to configure the new G5 (RAM, RAID, graphics card, etc…), with some money left for a P2 card and store.
It was imported thru the firewire port of a JVC BR-DV600UA deck. However I shot it with a Canon XL1. The Audio Rate is different from the other clips. all the others are 48.0KHz. This clip is 48009.3Hz. How does that happen? I didn’t change any settings while I was shooting or importing.
