    Thanks for your reply.
    Yes, it’s not exactly what I was searching for: IR360 needs no less than 4 channels-sweep (anyway I could record the sweep 2 times: one for L-R, and the other for Ls-Rs).
    So… yes, probably it’s the best available thing.

    August 11, 2017 at 12:52 pm in reply to: 2x 48v to a stereo mic (damaged?)

    Sincerely I didn’t hear something particular after having powered both the channel. I simply noticed a “noticeable” difference between the sensibility of one capsule on the other (i.e. when 48v was on both cha., right capsule captured a bit louder than left capsule).

  • Perhaps it’s better to move this last question into a new dedicated topic…

  • Gentlemen, I’m afraid of having damaged a mic…
    I’ve bought the Audio-Techina BP4025 mic that’s a stereo X/Y mic with a 5pin-to-2x3pin cable. I connected the mic to the stereo-recorder with the two 3pin-XLR (Left and Right channels) and I gave 48v phantom to BOTH the channels (so the mic itself received 2x 48v). Later I discovered that giving the 48v just to one single channel (i.e. left) was enough to power both the channels as well. So arrived my doubt: Is it possible that I have damaged the mic giving 48v to BOTH channel? Or not?
    Thanks a lot.

    Thanks (as always) for your reply and help, Mr. Crowley.
    I must admit that mic cable is an unknow world for me: I’ve read various forums about different quality cables and the names were Vovox, Mogami, Klotz, Sommer. But each brand has various types of cables for various features (shielded, unshielded, double-shielded, etc.)
    First of all I can’t make the cable by myself, I have to buy it pre-made, and the types that I can easily order (in Italy) are the following:
    – Vovox link protect S200;
    – Sommer Cable Albedo Micro Cable;
    – Mogami 2534 Neglex Quad cable + Neutrik NC3 XX-B;
    – Mogami 3080 + Eminence E303 & E304;
    – Mogami MGAES0300BL;
    – Klotz M5.

    1. Short question: which is the best cable for noise rejection and shielding?

    2. Long question: in THIS image you can see a list of detailed infos about the cable. Can someone of you kindly (and patiently) explain to me the main infos to understand why a cable is better then another one?

    Thanks a lot.
