  • Ok, I don’t deinterlace, but exporting into PNG, the setting window in quicktime asks me if I want to activate the interlace filter (with many options: upper field, bottom field, etc.)
So, is it better to leave unchecked that filter? Or is it better to activate it in order to obtain an interlaced PNG movie?
    Thanks a lot.

  • A doubt.
I try to convert a little segment of a DVD-mpeg2 into PNG-quicktime to obtain a lossless footage to use in AfterEffects.
    My questions are:
    1) is it good to deinterlace the original mpeg2 when I convert into PNG?
    2) mpeg2-dvd is 720*576 with non-square pixels, so, when I convert into PNG, do I have to change the size into 768*576?
    3) in AfterEffects I’ll use alpha channel and finally i’ll export into H264, so, when I convert mpeg2 into PNG, should I use millions-color+ or not?
    4) to convert the mpeg2, do I have to use QuickTime or I can choose another software live MPEG2-Streamclip?
    Thanks

  • Sorry Guys, 2 question:

    1. I read Rafael saying
“Yes export a self contained movie and import to Compressor.
The problem of sending directly from FC, is that even the sequence have been fully rendered, it will be renderd again.”
I’m not sure if I understand… I have a sequence in FC6, with my edits cuts etc. And I want to render it as prores. If I understand right, I have to render the sequence with “quicktime conversion” and NOT with compressor because compressor does two renders? Is it so?

    2. I want to upload the obtained movie in youtube. Could I upload directly the prores? Or I have to convert the prores into something else? If so, which is the best setting (for audio and video quality) I can use to upload the movie?
P.S. I need perfect sync between audio and video

    Thanks.

It seems so… I think this is similar to the out-sync behaviour of PAL files in NTSC sequence (or the inverse…) But the 3 video-clips are in sync! Only the AIFF is out-sync. And my sequence is in 25p! So what can I do? I have to convert my AIFF in PAL? Can you say something that I practically can do?
    Thanks

    Thanks Tom!
So, if you had to choose between mts-in-CS4 or prores422-in-FCP, you’d choose FCP (even if preres422 is an “added step”), right? So in your opinion the FCP “re-encoding” (into prores) doesn’t get worse the quality of mts, right?
Infact… I have the last question: using FCP7 with intel-mac, I see that the encoding from mts to prores is very fast! So, perhaps FCP7 doesn’t really “encode”…perhaps it simply re-pack the video file (without changing the video quality with an encoding step)?
    Thanks.
