Sorry for the topic drift, but . . .
Shane, when would you choose Squeeze over Media Encoder? I’ve always used ME, but I have Squeeze as part of the Symphony bundle. I’ve never used it as ME has always managed to do what I’ve needed. Is it better at some export formats?
Just wondering if there are compelling arguments to finally learn it.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Hi Brian.
Great – thats exactly the pointer I needed.
I watched one of Chris Schmidt’s tutorials on GSG and it all came together.
Thanks again.Cheers, Adrian.

I second the DP6 choice.
We used it for 2 weeks in Greenland in some pretty rough situations – it got rained on, dropped and still performed perfectly. We used it to compare an EX3 and a 350 to ensure they were producing similarly balanced pictures; as a crane monitor and as a 5DMk2 and 60D monitor. Different setups for each situation (picture size etc) and it performed perfectly. Menus are straightforward too.
If you have a chance, give it a try.

Hi Mark,
I use https://www.takeoffvideo.com when I need to show content remotely.
I live in France, my direct client was in Copenhagen, and their client was in Greenland.
It gives you your video with a timeline, allowing clients to stop the playback, add a comment, then continue watching. You can then add replies to those comments, upload changes etc etc. You can control levels of access, who can upload etc. You can setup email notifications for when comments are added. You can upload graphics, scripts or whatever I guess.
It worked flawlessly and I would definitely recommend it wholeheartedly.
AND it’s free – at the moment.
I’m not affiliated in any way, just a very impressed user.

April 7, 2011 at 7:15 pm in reply to: Delivery Workflow – website for client previews and change logs?Hi there,
I used https://www.takeoffvideo.com/. I’m editing in France, my producer’s in Denmark, and his client’s in Greenland. It worked flawlessly.
I’d upload a very lo-res version. It’s on the site within a few minutes and there’s a timeline below the video where comments can be added at the minute/second that the comment refers to! I can then reply to that comment, again, on the timeline.
You can set up access via privileges, add scripts and other media for collaboration.
I can’t recommend it highly enough.
There’s a dummy project on there to get a feel of how it works.
AND IT’S FREE!!!
I’m starting a new project with the same team next week, so I’ll be using it heavily for the next couple of months or so.
I was emailed about 12 weeks ago asking users their opinions on how they would like things to work if it were a paid-for service, so I guess that’s the route they’ll be taking at some point – try it while it’s still free.
Cheers,
Adrian.
PS No connection with them etc, just a very satisfied customer (although, can I be a customer if I’m not paying??) -

November 8, 2010 at 7:43 pm in reply to: Compressor and MB Grinder give different resultHi Shane,
Thanks for the quick response.
I’m running SL 10.6.4, FCP 7.0.3.
I placed the clips on different layers on the same timeline, lined them up and toggled between them.
V1 – original clip from 5D;
V2 – Compressor clip;
V3 – Grinder clip. The difference between the Compressor clip and the original clip is very slight and barely noticeable by eye, although there is a difference on the scopes. Whereas the difference between the Grinder clip and the original is marked and clearly visible by eye.
Also, the Compressor clip seems sharper than both the original and the Grinder clips – very strange.
It’s got me a bit stumped!

Ty,
Thanks very much for your advice on this.
‘Hot Flash’ looks like fun, and the audio was seamless. Good luck with the project.
No doubt I’ll be back with more questions at some point!

Hi Ty,
That sounds like a good solution – I’ll go back to the man with the chequebook and see how much we really have to play with.
Thanks again for your help on this.
I’ve ordered you Bootcamp – looking forward to reading it and learning more about this strange world of sound!
Cheers, Adrian.
