May 1, 2007 at 2:10 am in reply to: CS3 “blend using 1.0 gamma” doesn’t work for blurs and motion blur?I’m far from a color management/linear float expert, but you don’t have to download linear profiles.
AE CS3’s all-new color management worfklow now includes an option in project settings called “Linearize Working Space”. So, you can pick any of the wide RGB color spaces as working space and check this option. Note that when you enable it, “Blend using 1.0 gamma” is also activated (it comes bundled in the same deal, you could say). The Linearize Working Space option extends linear compositing so that it not only applies to inter-layer compositing, but also to intra-layer blending (internal blending modes in shape layers’ fill and stroke attributes, intercharacter blending in text layers, etc.).Note also that 32 bpc processing is a great idea, but not really a requirement for Blend 1.0/Linearize Working Space.

I don’t think I ever saw a project file-based application (ie, a non-destructive editor) which would be backwards compatible and allow you to open a newer file in an older version of the program. I mean, there must be an odd exception somewhere out there, but as far as video and design applications go…

If you don’t do anything, it will run run native.
When you ask for it to run under Rosetta (via the Finder’s get info window), everything will run under emulation. Not just the PPC plug-ins.
Fortunately, as i said before, I would expect most of the third party plug-ins (and of course, all of the bunlded ones) to be ready when CS3 ships. Very soon. Many developers showed Intel ready plug-ins at NAB, for example.Adolfo Rozenfeld

Anything that has a dual core processor, depending on your platform choice. Ideally, something that has a proper graphics card, instead of the Intel integrated graphics so common in lower end models. And also, you’ll want to stuff it with at least 2 GB of RAM.
In Mac systems, all of this spells MacBook Pro. On the Win side, there are comparable configuratons from most manufacturers.Adolfo Rozenfeld

Be even more amazed now that they updated the results after enabling “Render Multiple Frames Simulataneosly”!
The results they first posted were without even turning it on in preferences…
And you know what’s even better? You can expect general performance to be even better in the final release.Adolfo Rozenfeld

Of course, a public preview (again, not a beta, it’s pretty close to the final product) of Adobe After Effects CS3 (aka AE 8) is available NOW for registered users of AE7.
You can download it and get a Preview SN in the Adobe Labs web site:
https://labs.adobe.comAs for upgrade pricing, it depends. Going from AE 7 to AE CS3 Pro (there is no more standard version) is $299. But you know what? You can upgrade to Production Premium CS3 (with Photoshop CS3 Extended, Illustrator CS3, Flash CS3, Premiere Pro CS3, Encore CS3 and a few others for maybe a couple of hundreds more).

Keylight will come bundled with AE CS3, just like Cycore FX and Color Finesse.
It’s not included in the Public Preview (also like Cycore FX and Color Finesse) for obvious licensing reasons.Adolfo Rozenfeld

As I said in a recent post, an Intel ready version of Cycore FX will come bundled with the final release of AE CS3.
Running out of memory in an Intel Mac is very related to Rosetta taking as much memory as the application it translates. Which as we all know, it’s Adobe’s (and Cycore’s) fault 🙂Adolfo Rozenfeld
