I’m using the “stroke” effect, but it’s the same idea as the write on – and yes it’s a illustrator doc. I have each of the letters (other than ‘hel’ which are joined together in the original illustrator doc) on a seperate layer. Creating a track mate hopefully shouldn’t be too tricky… I’ll give it a shot an report back!

Not quite (but man what a cool commercial).

It looks like I was able to figure it out. It took a bit of finessing but it looks pretty okay in the end.

Well I’m still very new to after effects so I’m not exactly sure what the best method to do this would be, but the wiggle expression I’m using does a *fairly* good job, but can be a little too all over the place. We’re trying to get a more condensed, concentrated (and in some ways more “rounded”) look to the squiggles…

if that makes any sense what so ever.

The way I have it set up right now is particular is doing the streaking, and the position is linked to a null object which I’ve applied the wiggle expression to the possition.

they’re both anamorphic so that isn’t a problem. I managed to figure it out and think I managed to do it okay.

I just used compressor and copied all the settings from the original SD over to the AVCHD footage. Looks pretty good.

Of course what this has taught me is that MiniDV really looks like CRAP compared to this stuff.

And also that final cut 7 is a bit of a pain and really needs to you make sure you FULLY RENDER your clips before you line them up for multiclip.

    Here’s a test.
    https://vimeo.com/6866425

Generally im quite pleased with it, but I want to fix the gradient (theres not enough blue/dark purple showing up) and it writes a little fast.

if anyone has a tip on how to actually cycle through the colours a bit more (like in the original video) that’d be great!

thanks for all the help you guys. such an amazing community here.

September 26, 2009 at 2:27 am in reply to: Multiclip with HD and SD Footage?

Also, one more thing… since I imported my AVCHD Pro-Res Proxy, should I re-import at the full Pro-Res BEFORE I convert down to SD?

It’s a real shame cause the HD stuff looks SO GOOD but the SD doesn’t when it’s blown up (the red light doesn’t help) and the HD stuff dropped into a SD sequence doesn’t look as good as it should

    🙁

if only i had two of these cameras.

okay I think that shouldn’t be too tough… just one quick Q:

since the DV footage is anamorphic DV its 720×480 displayed at 853×480. What do I tell compressor to encode as? do i say 720×480 and use the anamorphic flag (i presume theres a way to do so).

    Thanks.

I’m fully aware that they’ll never look alike, and I’m more than willing to Downscale HD to edit/go to DVD and UPSCALE the SD for use on the web. That’s no problem. I’m accepted that.

BUT I want to know is how I go about DOING so so that final cut will play nicely. Do I use quicktime? Do I use Compressor? What settings? Etc. THATS the problem I’m more concerned about.

I will also give that pluraleyes a look. sounds like a cool little app!
