Ive had trouble before with AJA audio inputs, and the alternative for $100 is the Blue snowball mic. Its the best USB mic made for FCP on the market.

Very simple, plug the mic in through USB and open the audio mixing tool and you are in action.

  • Saw on this post you guys had been mentioning SAN MP – My company is looking to sell off 4 licenses of SAN MP at a fraction of the retail price. We used this product happily for several years and no longer require them. Let me know if you are interested. Great shared storage option.

Tom is on the right path. It sounds like the VITC has scrolled down a bit and onto your screen. This staggered white line is supposed to be above the video frame, but if your deck going in or capturing device are not set correctly for reference then you see the white lines.

This would explain why your video has the lines on it in quicktimes, but then when you go out to tape the deck going outward sees reference and lines up the video correctly.

Try playing with your reference or blackburst generator.

Thanks Bob- I am now digitizing to my 14 terabyte xsan over fibre. I was just digitizing to my internal to test the format and see if the speed coming into the machine would work. Appreciate the wisdom. Anything without RAID is dangerous business. Ill watch out for those police

    Thanks Jeremy- didnt know that.

I called up AJA and their support team walked me through the data rate calculator to find out how much speed I need to write HDV at 10bit to my drives- then walked me through the system test and found out that I dont have enough speed to digitize at 10 bit. The recommendation was to digitize using DVCPROHD codec, which now works perfectly. Thanks!
