December 7, 2009 at 2:01 pm in reply to: How would I tackle video screens morphing to a logo

    Thanks Michael!
You understood my question completely, and it helped me pinpointing what I am looking for.
I am trying to find a way to have a video-wall which I could control every video/tile in it, but also to suddenly apply a video or image on the whole wall.
    Do I make sense here?
Let’s say 8X8 tiles/screens. This can be easily done by hand.
Each one of them is a video. We see a mosaic of 64 screens.
Even with a simple dissolve I would like to have a NEW video cover all screens…

    Thanks for reading!

Paul you were right on my problem.
    Thank you!
Dragging the edge and putting it in ‘its own new spot’ made it happen.

Thanks! Did a precomp to all BUT the Top layer and inverted based on the top layer’s boxes…

    Worked.

What I want to see eventually is the BG layer with “holes” of transparency where the white squares were. (the transparent checkered ‘nothing’ behind…)

    Thanks for replying.

I tried a couple of different methods when burning to DVD. With no real luck. I also need the files a bit compressed, without burning them to DVD (the situation now is 1GB for 42 sec…) an whenever i compress it a bit a lot of info is being jagged…
I think i am doing something wrong while rendering, but I am not sure.

Serge, this is like a mini tutorial!
I think you should put it up on the site.
It is also great help. thank you very much.
If I will have any further questions I’ll ask.
But this is exactly what I was looking for.
    Adam.

    Yo were right to be confused. I replayed way too fast, and I am looking for reflectiveness on the letters… So your post from 2 days ago helps, I just did not understand one out of the two main things you said;

-To have more control on what is reflected on an object best is to use a comp as a layer map, add your environment to this comp and scale it way down until you see a clear reproduction of your map on your 3D object.

I will try to play around with it, but I am not sure what exactly you mean by that.

But Thanks a lot for catching my thread!!

Thanks for the replays, I have been trying with Zaxwerks, I guess I am trying to achieve something too specific to describe. I will keep on trying through Zax. I think what I am looking for will need to combine a matte that will ‘reflect’ on the moving text…
