Thanks Angelo, I do not necessarily only need to do this entirely through premiere, Work just got us on the CS6 cloud so I have access to the adobe library of software. I am a FCP guy thats making the switch so I am somewhat unfamiliar with whats available. So if there is a better way I would love to hear it.
Thanks again

For anyone reading this thread that has the same problem here is the closest thing I can come to an answer.
In Short PC’s don’t like this codec, it sounds like there is a way to re wrap it through FCP but it seems really long and time consuming, and if you are doing this for free it is going to kill your time, and if the client is paying it is a waste of money.
The only player I have found to work is https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp it is not free, you can buy a multi licence or pay for a single user (I think $100+) again I have tested many players and tried many plugins and this is the only one that works.
VLC plays the video, but no audio, which is weird because almost every player can play the audio but no video…. technology can be so frustrating. I literally have a VLC programmer informed of this problem and he is trying to find a solution, if VLC releases an update or codec download I will post it on here.
Sony has a player called XDCAM player, you think this would work hhahaha not even close, again you can re wrap the files and use this player to view those files, but for me its not worth the time.
Long story short if you want to view these files on a PC, its gunna cost some $
If you are on a MAC congrats you can actually play these thru quicktime you just need to download a program called perian, it works wonders. just google perian

No Worries thanks for the advice none the less, maybe there is some settings I am missing, or something

Also I tried the KMP player, and no luck. I am just getting audio with a black screen for the video Maybe you have additional codecs on your machine from FCP?

I agree with Matt, only one slight discrepancy. I’m not saying he is incorrect but incase you do happen to notice the audio shift there is a clever way around it. I think this is from Philip Bloom.
Before you conform your footage save another copy of the edit (you will need this for the native audio tracvk and timing) Conform will affectively and permanently change all the clips associated with that edit so, you may even want to backup your raw files.
Conform the copied footage to your correct frame rate
then using compressor export out, and in the adjustments you will want to change the timing. it will say the current run time, and if you notice it is different from your original edit, you can be sure your audio will be out.
So all you have to do is change the actual time of the conformed clip to the same time as the original. Not %100 sure if this removes frames or just changes the speed of the clip. But what you are left with is a edit that has the exact same timing, but with the new frame rate.
All you have to do is drop it in a new sequence, making sure it matches your clip settings and drop in the old audio.
Your change is so minor that you may not even notice any audio changes, but if the sync is important, like a music video or anything long, etc this trick may save you some aggrivation
hope it helps there is a detailed tutorial online if you need… not sure where tho hahah

December 20, 2011 at 4:13 pm in reply to: XDCAM EX Clip Browser explorer window problemsGoing thru this issue right now as well, essentially you need to be sure your computer has the XDCAM codec.
I’m a MAC FCP guy so, I’m not really qualified to help you with your PC and softwares.
I had a guy recommend something called a KMPlayer, I haven’t tried it out yet but apparently its works on his machine with windows 7
VLC can play the XDCAM codec, but I’m having issues with the audio playback on the windows side still. Not sure what your audio codec is but maybe VLC will work for you.

Yeah I tried that, works well enough, but looking for something to give to clients, and dont really want to pay for user licenses.
Thanks very much though

I would try using the color corrector 3 way effect in FCP, However the best way would be to send it to color but if you are new you probably will have a difficult time figuring that out.
So yes color corrector 3 way in the effects tab under video filter – color correction. I would recommend starting with the mids and don’t get too drastic with the adjustments as too much will make your footage grainy.

Yeah I kept the native audio hoping that I could use it to help sync.
As for the clapper I had a countdown and a click track intro for the song, so I have been using that to sync, still I have roughly 10 different takes all with 3 cameras so keeping everything synced and trying to edit, while keeping things synced was very time consuming so I abandoned it part way thru the edit and just figured it would be less time to go thru it all at the end.
For anyone else with this issue I have come across some software from the makers of pluraleyes called presto. It allegedly will sync your various video clips to an audio track when making music videos, however it is for mac OS 10.6 and I am on 10.5.8 (bulllshiiiitttttt) So I haven’t actually been able to try it, but if your Os is up to date you can dl a free 30 day trial online
