Noah, If I finalized the master disc when it was authored and then made an image from that, wouldn’t the copies be finalized? That’s how I always thought it worked.
Aside from that, I looked in my settings menu on my duplicator software (flexware 1.1) and it has “finalize mastered discs” checked. So it sounds like they are being finalized but I’m glad you brought that up because I had never even thought about it. I thought I only needed to worry about finalizing the master.

February 16, 2007 at 12:28 am in reply to: Frustrated with my NLE, looking for other options for my P2 workflowI appreciate all the feedback so far. I’ve been talking to my dealer and he thinks there is some tweaking that can be done to give the system some more guts before I switch to a new platform. We’ll see how that plays out. My biggest draw to the Matrox was that it felt more like a complete package than some of the FCP options, but maybe I was wrong.
To answer some of the questions, I really noticed the lack of power when I was editing a handful of stills in the timeline. They had some simple moves applied and dissolves between. The rendering seemed slow so I did a test to compare the Matrox to my old system. The old system (which is now my email computer) is a dual Xeon 2.4 with 2GB of RAM, no hardware acceleration and internal IDE drives. It took 9:15 to render a short sequence of stills. The Matrox which is an HP xw9400 with dual 2.8 Opterons, 4GB of RAM and an internal SATA array did the same render in 8:50. That’s a difference of about $11,000 to save 25 seconds on a render! Maybe this system just needs some work to be better optimized, but it seems like it would take more than a tweak to make it great. We’ll see…

I have one. Mine is the Elite Micro with the printer. I had a few initial problems and had the same great experience with their tech support. After those first couple of bumps in the road it has worked perfectly. It feels great to start a project, go to bed, and wake up with a big pile of discs ready for me!

January 14, 2007 at 10:23 pm in reply to: urgent! problems exporting qt from a 1h30 videoIt would help to know exactly what the error says, but my first thoughts would be to make sure you have sufficient storgae space on the drive you’re saving to, and I would also do a test export of an AVI to see if you have the same results.
Someone else might have some insight on whether there are any size limits on files that large.

I submitted my info the day the promotion was announced. I bought my camera about a week before that. I still haven’t received anything yet, but I got a letter a week before Christmas asking me to mail them my orignal invoice to verify the purchase date. I can’t wait for it to arrive!

No need to apply it to transparent video. Just apply to the clip or clips in the timeline and select timeline timecode from the effect setting menu.
