Todd, thanks for all the info. That led me down the path I was looking for. I found several multiplexers that will work, and this one interesting and very cheap product that may work. I need to check it out a little closer first, but in case anyone else is looking for something similar, here’s the link:

Thanks Noah. I took a look at the recorders you mentioned plus some others at B&H and I only saw one that had 6 channels. Most were 2 and 4 and the 6 channel unit was $8500. I’ll need to keep all the channels recorded discreetly.

Although I admit I am new to this area of production, it seems like there has to be a computer based solution that I can learn how to use that is more cost effective.

You’re right, I don’t know the first thing about syncing timecode with remotely recorded audio, so I’m hoping to at least learn what tools people use for this and then try to learn how to use them myself.

You can jam sync these cameras with firewire. I know how to do that. What I’ve never had experience with is using a TC generator and seperate audio. That’s where I’m lost.

Thanks for the help. I just have no experience in organizing so many audio sources. Do you have any suggestions on what to look for in a TC generator? We will be shooting on HVX-200s.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. For my application we’re going to be shooting 24P and using P2 so even if we save a little money with HDV it probably wouldn’t make up for the hassle of the different frame rate and the tape based workflow. I guess we need to tell the client to pony up the cash for more 200s!

I’m not sure what the range on that head is, but do you have any problems tilting up after you tilt all the way down? For my application the camera would only be loaded with a battery and two P2 cards, but the weight is still a little over their recommendations I think. How quickly does it move around?

This is my first experience with DL discs and I didn’t do the initial authoring so I don’t know much about it. Is there a way to figure out if the layer break has changed other than watching the DVD and trying to catch it?
