Yes, that’s my point. The G5 has a socket on the back into which you plug the Airport antenna. No antenna, no Airport connection. See this:

The G5 Airport antenna mounts on the back of the G5. It’s a small T-shaped thingy. I think all G5s came with the antenna even if they didn’t have the Airport card installed, which might be why the Airport card you bought didn’t include one.

Easy fix? Nope, it’s a feature! Click on the toolbar button at the top right of the audio window.

The current software isn’t Intel-native, but it runs on the Intel Macs under Rosetta. If the performance is good enough for your tasks, I’d think you’re all set. When the Universal binary ships in 2007 it will run even better. (The hardware-based versions won’t run under Rosetta, by the way.)

Have you checked your Media Destinations prefs panel to make sure files are being placed where you expect?

I guess then I’d try rolling back to QuickTime 7.0.4 or booting from an external drive with 7.0.4 installed.

Are you sure you used the same registration code in 8.2.3? I don’t see how a QuickTime change could affect the app’s decision to enable the DV menu items for both input and output. I could imagine it breaking the acquire somehow, or affecting playback, but not that.

It’s risky to update QuickTime before M100 has endorsed it. Apple has acknowledged a “cosmetic bug” in the QuickTime Movie export dialog and there may be other issues with import and export.
