heck no… you’ll have to either 1) condense your layers or 2) make 15 edl’s. But unless you’re doing lots of effects work, you should always be able to get your timeline down to 1 or 2 layers.

I’d export a 30fps EDL – take it into Cinema Tools and have it create a 24fps EDL. Everything should come in within a frame or so.

That should actually read 90-95% on a vectorscope. So very vibrant colors.

Thanks John, I did eventually go into the manual and figured it out. Guess I should have done that before posting 🙂

Did anyone answer your question – or just get defensive?

I always press the “f” key for matchframe and it’s never failed (make sure only the targets for the audio are on, though, or it’ll match back to video layers) OR use the matchframe button which is the furthest right round button in the record viewer.

  • Do you have any hidden (control-b) or turned off layers in your sequences? When you ETT suddenly FCP thinks it has to rendering SOMETHING for every instance you have a clip that’s hidden or turned off…. even though you’ve rendered it….

For over a year we always had the roughcut clips turned off in our online sequences, and wondered why it was an hour’s render for every #@$& ETT we did. Then we deleted those clips before ETT and ZOOOOOOOOOM

I was talking to a DP friend – and there are all sorts of things with HMI that you have to be aware of: Some ballasts flicker more than others, certain shutter speeds show the flicker more than others, etc…. So it might have nothing to do with PAL in the end.

Try the Color Stabilizer in Afer Effects… Set it to stabilize Levels or Brightness over 5 frames.
