You’ll have to eyeball it, just double click your mix tracks, hold down shift in the source window, and you can subframe edit your audio and set a new IN point.

but honestly, by the time anything airs, 1 field here or there won’t make any difference in sync.

I had this happen awhile ago too…. hm. What I did is re-run the installer, and just before it installed it came up with the path where it was going to install the Boris stuff. That’s the folder I had to delete.

Too much to ask for an uninstaller Boris?

Sounds like something is going bad. Try re-seating the Kona card? might have to call AJA tech support

Yes, thanks a billion David! I did try rendering 23.98 and 23.976 out of Combustion, to see if that made a difference, but it didn’t. Cinema tools never occurred to me.

I hope Apple knows about these little things. It’s the obscure stumbling blocks that often cause the most consternation.

about 21MB. Plop it onto a timeline, add Widescreen, watch badness ensue!

    15 clips in the commerical.
    8 clips are from Combustion.
    6 of those render correctly.
    2 of them don’t.

I have 3 other commercials for the same product. Roughly equal amounts of Combustion renders –> roughly equal amounts of bad renders. I can’t find a pattern. Some widescreen filters have an offset, some don’t, but changing it doesn’t make a different.

I’d be happy to post one of these clips on our website.

AJA Io. Captured via SDI to 23.98 DV50, no field dominance on clips or sequence.

However, the clip in question is a render from Combustion. DV50, 23.98, no fields.

However x2, I have a couple other clips in the same sequence rendered from the same Combustion workstation with the same EXACT settings, and they render fine. (It’s been a solid workflow for us since FCP 4. that’s why I’m freaking out now)

I’ve exported an XML and rendered in FCP 5.1.4. No problems there.

Thanks Jeremy for helping me out. I feel like the computer is conspiring against me this week.

    WAIT!!! Sorry!

IT works! Set clip to None, sequence to None!

(I must have hit something and it went back to lower when I wasn’t looking)

You’ve saved the day! GOLD STAR!

1st thanks Jeremy for helping me out. I’m at a complete loss.

    2nd: Negative. Still pixelates.

What’s also odd is every now and then it actually creates a jitter frame! It’s almost like FCP is assuming you have 30fps with 3:2, so it’s trying to strip a field and the 3:2 frames, but it’s completely missing the cadence. But even with a clip that HAS 3:2, Strobe still screws it up.

I’ve tried everything in 29.97. Uncompressed, DV50, ProRes, Animation codec. I’ve tried 30.0 fps sequences with conformed media.

Give it a whirl yourself. Just grab any 29.97 clip, and put Stobe on it.

We have an Avid upstairs which I’m going to have to us. (that’s what they did the offline edit on). It works fine with it’s Strobe. Now this is going to be a sad day 🙁
