Have to go with Jeremy on this one: Gremlins!

Moved it to another Kona 3 system and it worked.

nothing i know of. just years of experience.

1)Because Panasonic is cheating HD resolution by using an anamorphic trick. It really is 960 pixels – you gotta strech it out to fit 1280.

2)98% of 24p media is actually 23.976 media, and 98% of workflows should conform to that. DF and NDF are simply counting methods. They don’t affect the amount of frames

August 5, 2009 at 5:54 pm in reply to: Offline/Online Frame Accuracy Issue

What’s the frame rate of your offline footage? the 1080i stuff should be simple – but I can see 720/60 and 720/24 causing headaches if you’re offline is DV-29.97

i have zero experience with the 1400a and DVCPRO-HD tapes workflows. But I do know my Kona 3 system has a much better time with frame accuracy when I REMOVE the Gen10 from the workflow and set everything to input video.

buy this color probe. Calibrate your monitor every couple of weeks. Since you’re delivering to web and desktop environments you don’t need to sweat having a broadcast monitor.

eventually you want to buy an eternal LCD to run off your Macbook (like an Eizo perhaps…. great looking monitor – self calibrates with a probe)

No – At least not in FCP 6.

100 clips shouldn’t take more than an hour by hand though.

[Craig RussillRoy] “SHAKE makes me wonder what is going down between NUKE and Apple”

they head developed of Shake left Apple to work on Nuke.

Nuke is too important to the feature film effects world to let fall into Apple’s hands. Shake had all the promise in the world. Apple poisoned it 🙂

July 30, 2009 at 6:08 pm in reply to: Question about DPX file management

You don’t want folders with 8000 DPX files in them. Keep them exactly like the scan house gave them to you.

the more organized and sub-foldered you stay with image sequences, the safer. 1 misplaced file can ruin everything.
