Yes, you can hold down Shift+Command and drag from the source….
or like we did, go into you custom keyboard, type in “overwrite” in search, and map the button “overwrite sequence content” to your F10 key…. the same with insert.
I’m totally with you on this one. That is a great feature on Avid.

Offline RT if you don’t have a lot of storage…. but if you can wrangle some extra Firewire drives, I’d go DV. We’ve been using it exclusively for offline on some 50+ projects. It looks great for offline and you’ve got plenty of RT.

Your Kona SD can easily output DV50 full raster – make sure your RT settings are on High (sounds like you’re seeing what happens when it’s on Medium). I have the same Kona (albeit on a G5 system), and we use DV50 all the time – it holds up extremely well compared to full uncompressed.

it works fine. any firewire drive will be fast enough….DV50 at 24fps is about 5.5 MB/sec. you might not have much RT at all with the spec of your machine, but normal editing will be fine.

I had this happen last week…. seems like I check every option in Render All, and then took off In/Out, and then selected “Both” from the Render drop down menu. Keyboard shortcuts weren’t doing it.

1) Mackies for the entire studio. They’re really just for audio monitoring and the occasional scratch VO, but are extremely simple and reliable.
2) I can’t use FCP with a mouse anymore – it’s too slow and pendantic. The only con is sometimes you can wiggle the pen in the wrong direction or grab some media you didn’t intend to — so Undo becomes your friend more than with a mouse. Using a Mac in general is a lot faster and less strain on your hand after a long day’s work.

We have a very similar setup, except a Atto UL3D with a U160 JBOB. Lag between button and play is minimal (1/3 second tops.)
Scrubbing is VERY buggy. Playback at 2x is unusable.
I honestly think the problem is a combination of a buggy OS fighting with underbaked RAID drivers fighting with the FCP5 video engine. I don’t think there’s ANYTHING wrong with your setup, but it’s going to take some patches from Apple.
Have you tried reading 8bit UC files off the internal SATA?

On the B frame? Like FCP is reading a field ahead of itself?

Haven’t used Send to Soundtrack, but Send to Shake is very similar in it’s losing of media, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Fields = None looks SO much sharper for things like Widescreen, Cropping, and Text. But in FCP 5 with 10bit UC, and a Kona SD, I see this wierd strobing in the motion (like the 3:2 jitter frames are being played in the wrong order. . . . .). So I’m forced into Fields = Lower.
Buggy, buggy, bug ridden.
Some things that used to work well, they just don’t now.
