what’s your setup? what flavor of media are you coming from? RT effects? what’s the setting in video processing?
I just tried this test with 10 bit uncompressed, and the resulting m2v was exactly the same. FCP 5.0.4.

huh. looks like that gamma problem that seems to pop up all the time – especially with people using blackmagic codecs. depends on his setup. i’d recommend doing your own test.

wait. so are you editing in 24.0? not 23.98? is the audio you’re getting from protools too long or too short?

apple+j, set audio speed to 99.91%. basically you need to slow down 24.0fps to 23.98fps for video land.

I’m a little confused on the particulars – but I would copy the MPEG-2 setting, and switch the field order. so instead of evens, or automatic, have it go on the odds.

Turn off your Kona 2 in A/V settings and see. It does kinda look like a SDI lock gone wrong, but why would you see it in the FCP windows? Also try RT Safe, and switch around your Video Processing mode…. it shouldn’t be doing that at all!

95% of the time 8 bit is totally fine. 10 bit will give you a bit of extra color fidelity – but unless you’re doing greenscreen or have lots of gradients in your spot – I wouldn’t hesitate to use 8 bit. But heck, if you’ve got the drive space, just do 10 bit and you never have to second guess yourself.

compare the batch Start time to the date stamp on the finished file.

You mean as opposed to Apple+A and render? or are you talking turning off a layer to make changes and losing all the renders on that layer?
