I don’t know about Aus specifically, but in the UK (which is PAL and a commonwealth nation) 99% of any modern DVD player will be play an NTSC disc and any modern TV will be able to read the signal…
I think it’s called PAL-30 mode… or something to that effect. 30fps with a quick conversion of the colorspace.
You could also convert your end media to PAL with compressor and burn a PAL disc with iDVD or whatever.

This is some stupid QT 7 thing you’re seeing. I see it too, you have to simply disregard the numbers in parenthesis. It *IS* 720×486 media.

You know, the HD cards do SD as well. There’s no need for 2 cards. and it would probably be a bad idea to swap cards in and out with any regularity – they’re not exactly miltary grade connectors on that PCI interface.

You shouldn’t be having a problem at all. This was stuff we stuggled with back in FCP 3 with the 1st gen SDI cards… but not today.

auto-render does it… but he’ll have to open all the sequences in order for them to get rendered. shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to open 100 sequences.

We still have one too… keeps plugging away on a daily basis. Sure, we could get a BM HD card for cheap, and we have 3 already, but the Kona SD has never given us a reason to retire it. Thanks BM!

Sean, I feel your pain… Some years ago I did the EXACT same thing…. you could see the carbon scoring inside on the FW bridge, and the hard drives had gone to heaven.
Of course all the LaCie fanboys are going to call you a idiot. But personally we’ve had too many failures of LaCie drives that had nothing to do with my inattentiveness and have since migrated to other solutions.
In our studio: 2 of 8 LaCie drives have failed (no including the one I fried)
0 of 17 Fantom drives have failed
0 of 3 G-Raids have failed
0 of 5 G-Tech drives have failed -
Well scribble my dribble…… I had the roughcut on V7, but the video track was turned off…. deleted V7 and suddenly ETT is back to speed. Some bad code I guess.

So I force rendered the ENTIRE thing. 25 minutes. But still 8 minutes of “Writing Video” on ETT. So about half the wait.
WTF? I know it’s always been something FCP does, but it’s never taken so long on such a relatively short piece.
I did a quick forum search…. has anyone ever found an answer to what FCP is doing during this process? I can go sit at our Avid Media Composer, have a 12 minute piece at 1:1, and hit Digital Cut – and bam it goes straight to tape with no hesitation. It’s almost like FCP has to do a video mixdown it order to get accurate ETT?
Cross dissolves STILL don’t work right.
