[Emmanuel Tenenbaum] “It’s not 2011 anymore, FCPX has changed.”

That sounds like as good a name as any 🙂

OTOH, the current name has become almost an established “brand”.

Yes, we should change it. FCPX is the best NLE that has ever existed on any planet in any galaxy, so there is no debate.

We can change it to: “Old Farts to Like to Argue”

    😉

I prefer a title which embraces these millenial times-

    “NLE-OMG”

    Perhaps more appropriate would be.

    FCPX WTF

Should probably leave the name the same. Not much has changed here…it’s kind of like stepping into a timeless NLE debate vortex. I only check in every now and again and every time I do, it seems people are still often having the same heated discussion.

I guess that’s more than a bit unfair. There actually is a lot of interesting discussion here, but I am amazed by the longevity of the arguments surrounding FCPX’s user interface, etc, and whether it’s pro enough. And the strange reporting of any link that announces the onset of Adobe or Avid’s imminent demise…as if FCPX needs any validation by the misfortunes or missteps of its competitors. FCPX “arrived” long ago. It’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s very capable at what it does. If you don’t like it, there are plenty of very good alternatives. Or use them all…they each have their strengths and weaknesses (as do the companies than make said NLEs).

    How about

“FCPX or Not – The debate remains the same”

Perhaps the name should be changed to “Should We Change The Name?” Perhaps we could even start a new debate forum on the name change, after all we are debating!

I actually happen to agree. I would like to see this forum and the FCPX Techniques forum merge into the FCPX forum. Many if not most of the posts on this forum are interchangeable with the posts on the other forum. I wouldn’t subscribe to a forum to follow a “debate” over “FCPX or not”. I am subscribed to this forum…despite the anachronistic name.
