  • Website to view television commercials for inspiration?

Posted by Scott Whitehead on January 30, 2006 at 2:15 pm

I was wondering if there is a website that archives television commercials. Many times I have a look in my mind but would like to search through commercials to find something similar and to get ideas. Are their any sites like this? I have looked at planetpoint.com but there isn’t many on there. I did a search here before posting but didn’t find any similar posts.

    Thanks,

Thanks Chris! Do you know how much it costs to join fastchannel? I am assuming that you have to be a member to view any of the commercials.

If I remember correctly it’s about $1500 annually to be a member which lets you host your own page with spots. But I’m not sure if there is a ‘view only’ membership. Send them an email, I’m sure they’ll have price plans.

This used to be the famous ‘e-creative search’. Then Fastchannel bought and runs it.

Thanks Chris! I’ll check into it. $1500 is a little out of my price range for just viewing commercials so hopefully they have a lower price point for viewing.

There’s also ‘boards magazine. They have lots of noteworthy commercials and music videos in their Screening Room.
Click here to go to ‘boards magazine.

I following site I found, has on the right side a list of links to many big studios. What I do, is go through the sites’ portfolio, and so far i’ve found hundreds of great commercials for inspiration.

Can’t believe we have to pay to view commercials. It’s us who should be paid to view them.

Did you tried opening your television?

It’s really for instant access to a huge library. For example I was in a pre-pro meeting 3 hours ago talking about how we are going to approach a project and it was priceless to jump on the net and search a bunch of spots we all referenced to get ideas or communicate exactly what we’re talking about.

Also when I’m creating a shotlist for a spot, I’ll search keywords to find hundreds of spots with similar creative to see how others before me approached the same concepts to learn, differentiate myself or just plain copy from.
