Vegas Lagging
Posted by Sean Dre on June 14, 2018 at 1:51 pmHey guys,
i hope one of you can give me an advise from experience.
I just got a new PC
Windows 10
Mainboard: Asus Prime B350plus
CPU: Ryzen 2700x
GPU: Asus Geforce 1060 6GB
RAM: 16GBIt’s a solid system. I am editing YouTube videos with Vegas Pro15. I record the Videos in 4K with 2 Samsung Galaxy S9+.
I already set up the project settings and Program settings. (16 Renderthreads, GPU accelerations) and did not change any settings since then.
Everything worked fine until yesterday. During the editing of a video Vegas froze. And since then I have a lagging when I play the video in Vegas. Before yesterday I was able to view the video in Full resolution (optimal – Best) without any problems. But now I do have some lagging.
I ran a benchmark test because I thought something was wrong with the system but everything seems to be great.
I don’t have a clue what to do.
Hope you guys can help me.
Cheers
Sean

June 15, 2018 at 12:02 amHi Sean
The reason for me asking for post of MediaInfo of your file is that there may be something in the file data that will get some of us on track to finding a solution to your problem. Sometimes it is not that obvious. There could be something in there (your file) that is making it borderline compatible/readable.

June 15, 2018 at 5:46 amOK, Sean, from the answers you’ve given, you need to be aware that not all MP4s are created equally. Saying it’s from a particular device would mean needing us to research and drilling down your through your device’s capture specs to get anywhere close in guessing just what’s INSIDE that MP4 of yours. So, there is this freeware s/w that can tell us just what you’ve got inside the MP4! I use it all the time when colleagues have CODEC issues. And THAT, CODEC issues, is at the crux of the matter here.
Get us that information and there are plenty of knowledgeable people waiting to assist.
Cheers,
G

June 15, 2018 at 10:24 amOK, here’s what that shows:
Yup, looking like it’s that CODEC indentifier: mp42 (isom/m .
And here’s a discussion on it : https://video.stackexchange.com/questions/19120/how-to-open-mp4-container-video-with-mp42-codec-in-vegas-pro too!

June 15, 2018 at 7:37 pmJust to add to Graham’s comment, follow this Wiki link. It will give you the details on the inner workings of FFMpeg.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FFmpeg
Soon, you’ll be a crack at making any files compatible. As a foot note, it helps to have all the vid files with the same frame rate, type, etc… especially when rendering.
