February 12, 2018 at 1:57 amHi Jack
First thing to check, is your OS recognizing the Canopus ‘cuz if the OS is not seeing the Canopus then no software will.
When your done checking, please post machine and OS specs.
Cheers !

I will assume that your are running Win 10.
Go to Start/Settings/Devices and under Other Devices your Canopus should be showing.
Cheers !

This is definitely not the best explanatory video but it will tell how to get to device manager in Win 7.

February 13, 2018 at 3:02 amOk. Here is where I am.
1. Grass Valley no longer supports my canopus 110
2. In my Device Manager I have an active firewire
3. A release from Grass Valley declares that the 110 has been tested and absolutely works with W 7
4. Perhaps I don’t understand how to make the connection to my Vegas 12.Jack

The problem seems to be with the way your Canopus communicates with your computer. Make sure that the hook-ups are correct. I have included a link to a user manual for your Canopus in case you (or any others coming here) need to do some troubleshooting. Have a good read, even the best of us miss something…sometimes. (Don’t forget about those pesky hard to read dip switches, page 16)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/71386.pdf
Once you will have solved your communication problem with your computer, Vegas should recognize it straight off.
P.S.: When you get it working (and it will) please come back and let us know how you did it, so that the next person can benefit.
Cheers !

February 17, 2018 at 3:12 amI thought I had read that Windows 7 has a problem with some Firewire devices requiring that you use the “Legacy” Firewire drivers. Here is an article about it:
Changing to the Legacy IEEE-1394 (Firewire) Driver in Windows 7
It might have something to do with it.

Followed directions for loading legacy, but nothing so far. Perhaps I don’t understand how to make the connection to Vegas 12.
