Well the first thing you need to do is make sure that Windows 7 can connect to your device. I have the Canopus ADVC300 but the ADVC100 should look very similar.
In your Windows 7 Device Manager, under Imaging devices do you have a device called AV/C Tape Recorder/Player?
If you don’t see this device, then Windows 7 can’t see your Canopus ADVC100 and Vegas Pro will never see it. So let’s start there.

Great! Yes, the device is a “real” device so if it’s turned off Windows won’t see it. That’s great news, that means that Windows 7 can see your ADVC100.
Next, with the ADVC100 turned on, in Vegas Pro 12 when you go to File | Capture Video… to capture your tapes, do you see this dialog box pop up and do your select DV? (you should)
That should bring up the VidCap program that captures from DV tape.
And you should see the window above. Do you get that?

February 20, 2018 at 3:14 pmWhen I get to the vidcap screen it references Manycam, which I have on my computer. I have a blue box that says preview is turned off, even tho I have it turned on. Boy, here’s where I start to get real confused!!

I’m guessing that this is your problem right there.
Open the Video menu from the top menu bar and select your Canopus ADVC100. That should make it talk to the Canopus device instead of Manycam and allow you to capture your tapes.

Great! I’m glad that helped. I have a bunch of tapes that I have to sit down and capture so I’m about to go through the same thing with my ADVC300.
