Using EX1 raw files for color correction?
I’m working on a documentary and we shot our interviews with the EX1. When I ingested the footage, I transcoded to XDCAM, and then to prores proxy (we have a lot of other footage that is not XDCAM). Now, we’re moving into color correction and I’m trying to find a way to give the raw camera files to the color technician.
I downloaded a plugin that allows me to import the MP4s into FCP, but I can’t seem to relink the prores or XDCAM files to this raw footage — I keep getting an error that says that the media ins/outs and reels do not match. I assume that the coloring should be done on the raw, but is this so? If so, what is the best way to do this? And if not, do you just color the XDCAM files?

The proxy files have to be named exactly the same as your EX files (or vise versa) or Final Cut Pro will not allow you to do the offline/online thing.
As far as sending the original EX footage to the colorist people do this all the time. But first always ask what format he/she wants to do the CC in, as they may have a preference. Sending the right format initially will cost you less than if the colorist has to do it.
