How do you incorporate DVCPro HD 1280x1080i in a 1920x1080i project? Is there a quality loss? Thanks.

[Bob Mark] “How do you incorporate DVCPro HD 1280x1080i in a 1920x1080i project?”

Just drop it onto the timeline. Vegas Pro should see that DVCPro HD is anamorphic HD with a 1.5 Pixel Aspect Ratio and display it correctly as 1920×1080.

[Bob Mark] “Is there a quality loss?”

Not in Vegas Pro. The quality loss has already happend in the camera which used 1280 pixels 1.5 pixels wide instead of 1920. You’ll never get that back without switching to a camera that shoots Full 1920×1080 so the quality to shot is the quality you’ll get in Vegas Pro.

Just drop it on the timeline, you’ll suffer no quality loss really.

Thank you gentlemen. I haven’t worked with Panasonic footage and I was concerned about mixing it with Sony MXF 1920×1080. Apparently, the limitation is in the DVCPro HD format, not necessarily in the camera itself. Thx. again.

    Sure…
That’s just another remarkable feature about Vegas,
it mixes everything without a headache.

Yes it’s the format that constrains the quality. Of course if the camera doesn’t have a full 1920×1080 sensor then the camera could constrain the quality as well.
