I can’t get the logo to pop up in Vegas without a black BG.

I do this all the time and never have that problem.

Make sure the logo is in RGB format and not CMYK as that won’t work in Vegas.

hmmm…i checked it and it is in RGB mode.

when I pu the image in Vegas as a png it adds the black BG, if i save it as jpg, it adds the white BG.

I’m putting the image on its own layer in Vegas.

If your PNG file contains an Alpha channel, then place it on the timeline of Vegas, right click on the event, select PROPERTIES, go to tab MENU and select from the alpha channel pulldown menu the right option. If you don’t know which option you need, just try to see which one works best.

(JPG files never contain a alpha channel. For PNG files you have to make sure you create it with alpha channel. If you are not sure, place it on this forum and we will check for you).

I always make sure my logos have a transparent background in Photoshop BEFORE I save them as PNGs for Vegas.
This way they import as expected.

    thanks, Theo

That solved the problem. I’m running into another problem now. When I use the event pan crop to size/place the image in the bottom right corner of the video, about 1/4 inch in from the inside safe area, the imagewill disappear and get cut off.

Is there a way to overcome that so that I can get this image as close to the right safe area as possible?

    thanks again

Jason, when you’re in Pan/Crop, right-click and select Match Output Aspect.
You should now be able to move it around as desired.

    Glad to hear it Jason.
That’s something that catches a lot of users until they become aware of the ‘fix’ 🙂

I’m glad Theo’s suggestion worked for you too.
Im still puzzled though as I never have to do that.
I drop it on Vegas and it works, no playing around necessary.

    Hi Mike,

I guess that it has to do with the type of alpha channel (straight or premultiplied). When you make effects in Particle Illusion, you see that there are many options (things that can go wrong) when you create an alpha channel in the output. And in those cases I always have to select manually in Vegas the type of alpha channel.
