I have created a circle shape. I want to be able to copy its stroke/fill shape into a text mask layer so that I can use it as a path for the text. The circle is on its own layer, and when I try and copy its path into the text layer it doesn’t work.

In the mean time I have done sorta a work around, but just making another circle mask on the text layer. It matches pretty well.

In the future though I am wondering if there is a way to get the EXACT shape from the shape layer and paste it into the text layer. Any help/techniques for this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have attached a screen shot of what I am working on:

Unfortunately, primitive shapes can’t be copied/pasted since they are generated from dimensions, and aren’t really paths. You could get around this by creating your mask first, then pasting that into a shape-layer.

[Disclaimer: Sometimes I am an idiot and misinterpret people’s posts. I’m sorry.]

Thank you for the info Paul! I will make the Text path first in the future, good to know!
