T-Tap and other external Devices
Hi Guys,
I heard just now – thanx good before buying – that the T-Tap is not working with DaVinci.
Is that correct? What other non pricey monitoring solution there is?
What about the Blackmagic ultra studio mini monitor?
I wanna use it for FCP 7/X, Color, PPro and Resolve.Thanx.

That’s true. I did the same thing. Right before I bought the T-Tap I discovered it didn’t work with Resolve. BM Mini monitor is the way to go. Pretty much the same except it doesn’t support higher than 1080HD. But, it’s also cheaper. I have one running with my iMac. It’s pretty good except once in a while it will make my reference monitor freak out. Which then I have to unplug from the TB cable and restart. Also, it gets really hot.

Anybody knows, how the Blackmagic intensity thunderbolt works? It goes together with resolve? You have SD and HD in and out? How is the quality if that device, since I saw some people on B&H feedback complained about it.

do you know how the BM Mini Monitor holds up against the BM Intensity Thunderbolt? It has HDMI and also Analog conversion, plus in & out. Do you know something about it?

The Mini only allows you to monitor. If you need both I/O go with the TB Intensity. Also There is the Mini Recorder if you just need to send out.

What do you mean to send out? Is the recorder not there to record into he computer?

I’m using the thunderbolt/mini-monitor on a PC. It works quite well. A few observations:
a-no audio output. need a disembedder.
b-works quite well with Avid Symphony, despite no audio when monitoring thru the mini-moitor
c-works well with Resolve, however, nVidia Quadro 4000 runs VERY hot -
Thanx for the extra info. What about the audio with the Mini? Can I still output over the normal line out though and it will be synced? According to B&H tech specs it does have audio out. How come?

Embedded audio in the HDMI or SDI stream will play successfully if your monitor had audio capabilities. The only reason to use an audio disembedder is if your monitor does not have audio output.
