Hi! I am a noob in video and still have a lot to learn. Now that I have that out of the way… I was asked to do some interviews of some employees at my office. The idea was to create an infinite white background so that we could easily ad logos and other titles around them as they talk. The cyc worked out pretty well, but the subjects seem to be “soft.” I’m sure I need to readjust my camera. I am using a Canon Vixia HFS10. The snow setting with increased exposure seemed to work really well, but when I got into Premiere, this is where I notice how soft the subject appears. Can you suggest any filters or settings that I could use to regain some detail? Here is a sample still:

    Thanks!

You’re probably dealing with some light bounce. Low contrast images inherently look less sharp. Add a curves filter, pin the center highs and then bring the shadows down. After that you could try some gentle sharpening with an unsharp mask effect.

And don’t shoot interviews with the “snow” setting on the camera.

Yes, this was probably a bad choice. Can you make any settings recommendations?
