Strange audio glitch on output – is this a bug?

I figured out a workaround! In my sequence, there’s no audio for the first 5 seconds of the timeline because I needed to leave room for a slate. I added in a silent audio track until the real audio starts and that fixed the problem.

I tried this particular work around – adding filler audio – when I first started experiencing the audio glitch problem. It worked at first, but quickly I found the glitch creeping back in again on my exports, even if I had filler audio at the heads and tails and all gaps in my timeline. I tried swapping out all my dissolves as someone else suggested, which again worked at first, but then the problem came back. I tried changing my exports from MP4s to h264 quicktimes. Also worked at first, but then started finding glitches in my quicktimes. Switched to ProRes out of Premiere and did my final encoding in Compressor. Then I found the glitches creeping into my ProRes.

I finally spent a few days and completely wiped my hard drive and did a fresh install of the OS and Adobe apps, no Time Machine Restore. Since the re-install I have not experienced the problem.

Anyway, don’t presume the problem is gone. And the glitch is not always reproducible in the same timeline at the same spot. It’s there, then you don’t do anything and export again and it’s gone, then export a third time and it’s back in a different spot.

I missed deadlines, probably lost clients, lost sleep, lost free time, and pretty much lost my mind due to this issue. I basically had to build in an unlimited amount of time to watch in real time, and possibly re-export multiple times anything that came out of Premiere.

I’ve determined that the problem occurs when trying to export from the Media Encoder. When I export directly from Premiere (Export Media) it seems to work. But if I use the queue I get the issue: a blip of audio at the end of my exports despite having tried fading out numerous ways, adding filters etc. Still get the blip.

Hi All,

There’s been a number of issues reported in this thread that may or may not be related. As many of you are aware, these issues appear at random which makes it extremely difficult for us to reproduce in house and fix. With that said, we’ve fixed a few audio glitches/pops/dropouts problems in our upcoming release which I’m hoping covers the reports brought up here.

Please give the new version a go once released and let us know if you continue to encounter this issue.
