Sony Vegas Pro 12: After render problem (videos sometimes get choppy)

Try disabling the GPU Acceleration under Options | Preferences | Video. I had a similar problem and disabling the timeline GPU playback support fixed it.

Hi John, Thanks for the reply, but I’ve already tried your solution because Vegas won’t render my videos with GPU acceleration, it get stuck every time it encounter fade or cuts. So i render everytime with that option off. I have tried other programs like Camtasia Studio 9 and it render videos without problems. I render in MP4 1280 x 720. 29,98 fps with “best” render quality active.

I need that risolution for internet videos.

So when you say that it gets “choppy” are you referring to the frame rate stuttering, or the actual video picture breaks up? If the image is breaking up then perhaps your average bit rate is set to low. Are you rendering and a Constant Bit Rate (CBR) or Variable Bit rate (VBR)?

I render my videos using the template Internet HD 720p at VBR with Maximum set to 16.000.000 and Average: 8.000.000
And with Choppy i mean that the actual image breaks up (the strage thing is that if i re-render the project is gonna break up in the same point everytime, in other videos too), like the quality go really bad for some seconds.

Maybe have i to try CBR?

I think im gonna try to change template too.

It sounds like at that point in your video there aren’t enough bits to accurately represent the image. Try checking the Two-Pass option and see if that helps.

No, this will make the entire video you more bits just to make that one scene happy. VBR is still the right way to render. You might have to raise the maximum bit-rate a little but start by using the two-pass option.

Try the Sony AVC encoder. Sometimes MainConcept does the best job and sometimes Sony does the best job. It all depends on the program content.

ANSWER

Hey guys, this is the best way to get rid of choppy preview/render everything. I had exactly that problem, and it really made it mad.

Load up sony vegas go to options>preferences>video>GPU acceleration of video processing>off

And close vegas, open it again and it works!!!

Hi again, and thanks for all the replies.
I have already tried to set GPU acceleration of video processing>off
But it didn’t work. So now i have more details on my problem: The video get this problem just in the dark images. for exemple: all the video have images of green hills then it comes a black backround with some white text over it, and HERE -> Choppy and bad quality. Then back to green hills -> Normal. The only solution i have found is change encoder.I switched MainConcept to Sony AVC, And that worked.

Yea, whenever you see stuttering or glitches in your playback or renders, always check the GPU option to see if turning it off helps.
