Sony Vegas .Avi Issues! Please Assist!

Sony Vegas 12 & 13 pro wont play avi files from most recordable games. And for that matter some media players wont even play certain avi files. VLC player & UPlayer willl play avi files. Or just download prism file converter and change thew extension to mp4. I have the same problem because im recording from fps games like combat arms, crossfire, gta 5, and just started playing left 4 dead 2 but i have to convert every time.

Well, the problem is mainly due to that Windows didn’t come with the codecs that were used for those particular .AVI files(AVI is just a wrapper for a large variety of codecs.)… That’s why Sony Vegas Pro won’t open it. So, you can try to download the codec packs to solve the issue. While, sometimes there are viruses masquerading as codec packs floating around (especially on P2P networks), other times the codec packs are buggy, other times they’re fine. And here we recommend you a better solution- changing Bandicam AVI to Sony Vegas Pro more friendly video format like MPG.

Never, ever, install a codec pack. It’s like taking all the pills in your medicine cabinet hoping one will cure you… one might… but the others could kill you. Codec packs overlay the high quality codecs that you purchased from Sony with Vegas Pro or Movie Studio with low quality free codecs. It’s always a bad idea to install them and most of the time they will break Vegas in some way. Your best bet is to figure out the one codec that you need and install just that one from the manufacturer.
