Sony Vegas 11 – Very slow playback in Preview window

James, are you exporting a series of stills from Cinema 4D?
I usually get TGA files from the animators I work with.
As long as they’re sequentially numbered and in a single folder, the process is painless and timeline playback is smooth.
I only have an i3 at work so I usually have to drop it down to Preview/Auto to get 29.97 playback.

Yeah, I export a scene into Png Frames that are all numbered; Sony vegas works out where each frame needs to go automaticly.
Stab in the dark here but it seems that Graphics card acceleration doesn’t make a difference to the playback quality; Would this mean that my Graphics card isn’t usable by sony vegas improve video playback?

Dumb question but are you using the “import still image sequence” that I described?

To answer your question, yes it is possible that your graphics card isn’t making a difference 🙁
Have you tried disabling it to see if that helps?
What driver version are you using?

Yeah, i go to;
File > Import > Media > (find the first frame of the sequence) > Tick the box at the bottom for “Open still image sequence”

My graphics card is a Gigabyte – GeForce GTX 560 Ti and it is currently on version 306.23 in the NVidea control panel. It seems that even when I enable/disable the GPU acceleration doesn’t make any difference to the playback, Should I get a new graphics card do you think?

(also I’m a gamer so I would want to get the best Graphics card to play the games 😉 )

You’re doing everything right so I’m stumped as to why you’re having problems.
I know that Graham has the same graphics card that you do so hopefully he’ll jump back in and let you know what driver he’s currently using.

If it doesn’t work for whatever reason, what should i do to fix my problem?
I’m completely stuck with what to do…

I’d like to see you render out to something really simple, like an AVI and import THAT into a new Veg, and see if you get better FPS.

If you can’t even play an AVI that Vegas has rendered then I have nothing else to suggest.
