Shooting progressive on 60i project rendering interlaced file
Been away from this forum for a few years. Nice to see the same people are still around to give expert advice. It was very helpful in the past.
If I’ve missed a specific thread related to my question I apologize.
Very simply–I’m looking to shoot in 30p mpeg2 HD 420 35 (sony fs5) I need to deliver an interlaced file. Likely will use mxf HD EX 60i to render. I know many believe in this case shooting interlaced throughout would be best. But I like the look of 30p and it’s nice to have the option of working in progressive right through in case I need to output a progressive file of the project.
But if I am rendering a 60i file as mentioned are there any issues? I’ve done some tests and it seems fine.
Since I’ll likely be using some dji footage (1080 30p) on the same timeline I’m wondering if A: it will help or hurt the 60i timeline if all the material is 30p? B: is there any point working in a ‘progressive’ timeline and rendering the 60i mxf that way?
I’ve had severe problems with VP15 crashing so I’ve made some adjustments to the project settings. Also, its probably the main reason I’m shooting in 420 35 for the moment instead of 422 50.
Bottom line is I want to avoid the edit crashing every 10 minutes …which happened during my last project.
