Seeking suggestions for new mixing board
Like the title says, we need a new audio mixing board to replace a
20-year old one that’s shot.We’re looking for an analog mixing board with at least 16 inputs, and
it has to have return/sends and submix ability so we can do mix-minus
(eliminate delay echo) when fielding satellite teleconferences with live
call-ins. Basic EQ functions of course. We’re not using this for mixing
bands, we will be taking in an average of six voice mics (so phantom
power is required) and two-channel inputs from up to about five decks or
other audio sources.We are not looking for a digital board, or anything with automated
faders or links to lighting cues or NLE’s or anything like that. A meat
and potatoes, analog live mixing board. Metering? LED’s on individual
sliders, LEDs and “real” meters on the main outputs would be nice.It has to be at least as capable as the Ramsa T820 that it would
replace. I’d like to know if it will last as long as the Ramsa, and how easy it is to service or replace things like slider pots.Hoping for under ten grand. Under five would be better.
What can you audiophiles suggest? I’m hearing Onyx is good, but also have heard Mackie and Behringer are not sturdy, (at least on their low end) and I need bulletproof sturdiness. It has to last at least as long as the Ramsa did.
Appreciate any and all advice or opinions.
