  • Rendering video always randomly messed up?

I am trying to render a video which works with layers and transparency. I don’t know if you’re familiar with “line distribution videos”, but the concept is simple. You have a music group and a song of them, and you basically count the “line distribution” among the members of the group. As the song plays, when a member starts singing, this member’s timer goes up and their “line bar” fills. Here’s a normal screenshot of the video: https://ibb.co/mPrmeo

Everything shows fine in the preview, but when I render it, I get all kinds of random graphical bugs. It’s really driving me nuts!
    1) The background of the bars (which is supposed to be gray) randomly turns black:

    2) The bars randomly change to another (already used) color for a millisecond:
https://ibb.co/mMQyQT Sehun’s bar is brown/gold, it took Chen’s red color for a millisecond
    3) The bars randomly disappear for a millisecond
    https://ibb.co/fQw55T Baekhyun’s bar disappeared for a millisecond
    4) Another graphical bug I can’t explain

I’ve tried rendering in 3 different Internet HD 1080 templates 59.94 fps, 50 fps and 29.97 fps. All three randomly mess up.

    Hi Mattheo,

Can you post a the properties of your source video media? In project properties you have the field order ‘upper field first’, change that to ‘none – progressive’ and see if that works better for you.

    Best Regards…..George

    Hi George,

Does “upper field first” mean that the upper tracks are displayed “in front” of the ones below? If that’s the case, then that is indeed what I need. I ordered my tracks according to visibility, so I don’t think the problem comes from there. ☹ Unless I’m missing something?

    Hi Mattheo

I believe that what George meant about Upper Field First in the Field Order box was this (I added a few others)

    Hi François,

I changed all 3 settings that you marked and it’s even worse now…
Towards the end it goes super crazy, it keeps flashing from a black screen with only 1 giant timer to random parts of the video ☹

What’s wrong, why can’t it just render it just like the preview?

    Hi Mattheo

In Vegas, can you go to Options then Preferences then Video tab. Do a screen capture of it and please post it.

    Cheers !

Mattheo in addition to Francois request above can you provide a screen shot of the render settings, and a text dump of your source media from Mediainfo (free download online)? It appears you are mixing the render from the source and possibly having a problem from your GPU. But without some of these specifications, we are shooting in the dark to help you.

    Best Regards…..George

    Hello again

Go back to Preferences, Video tab and change these settings as per pic below. You don’t need to render the whole thing, just 20 seconds worth to see if this will work. I found that having your Dynamic RAM Preview set to high causes random problems come rendering time. Also, try using rendering with GPU acceleration turned OFF.

As for George’s comment, follow this link to Mediainfo

    https://sourceforge.net/projects/mediainfo/

The screen shot of the render settings can be copied with your basic PRT SCR button on your keyboard and using Paint to Paste/Save and then post.

    Looking forward to seeing it.

    Cheers !

“GPU acceleration” was the problem! After setting it OFF it renders just like the preview, without a single bad frame ???? Rendering takes much more time, but I’m still happy with the solution!

Thanks to all of you for your precious help!
