Rendering Problem
Ok for the last 5 days I’ve been trying to render a project and it keeps saying that my computer does not have enough memory. I had enough of it so I went to buy MORE ram. Even though I was already running 4 gigs. I just upgraded my CPU to 12 gigs of RAM and I’m still getting this error!
My computer is only using about 10% now to process Sony Vegas. I don’t understand, even if I try to render a 3 minute project with no effects or anything it will not let me render. This is so annoying. Can anybody help me with this??

So I read your post. My commit charge was only at 30% the whole time and I was keeping watch and it still didn’t work. The main problem is I have 13 vegas projects rendering through 1 final project. But still, I have 12 gigs RAM dual core processor and i7 intel chipset. So it’s impossible that it’s my computer. Must be something wrong with vegas or something. I am running 10a.

Yes, SCS engineers programmed a bug just for you.
All that you’ve determined yet is that Vegas is not eating your resources.

What else is running? You have dozens of processes running at any time. Use the Task Manager and sort on “Commit size” to see what process is eating your memory.
Unfortunately, Task Manager only takes a snapshot every second. A lot can happen between snaps. You’ll be surprised how much your browser reserves for itself.
How big is your paging file? Do you have one on each internal HDD?
Just reaching here, but sometimes you have to go into your BIOS and save the parameters again for the BIOS to recognize new memory. Sounds strange, but it does sometimes work. and it can’t hurt anything to try.

The only process I am running is Vegas. I even set my computer settings to allow Vegas most of my memory. I did go into the BIOS and checked everything there. Paging sizes are 4095 for each drive. Each hard drive I have is over 1 tB too with about 100 gB taken up so there is plenty of space.

This is impossible. Vegas is not a process, it’s an application. You likely have 50 or more processes running as well as at least two or three applications. One of them is chewing up your memory resources.

I don’t know where you got 50+ but here are the processes running.
vegas100.exe 747,652 K
explorer.exe 78,196 K
plugin-container.exe 15,728 K
winlogon.exe 1,888 K
csrss.exe 1,488 K
dwm.exe 1,236 KThat’s all. The only applications I am running is Vegas.
For some reason it seems vegas is using up a lot. So it is using up resources.

I don’t know where you see this process list, but you don’t have any of the processes that Windows requires such as taskhost.exe, svchost.exe, taskmgr.exe, and dozens of others. Windows can’t run without them.
You have to have at least one explorer.exe application running. Again, Windows won’t work without it.
Did you go to the task manager and click on “Processes”?

Yes. I did and that’s all that shows. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate Edition for Students at my University. My copy is a bit different from the normal one.
