Region Naming Script Needed

When I right click Region #1 the context menu has Go To, Go to End, Select Region, Rename and Delete. There is no option to Select Events to End. But, If I right click in the timeline itself I do see Select Events to End.

In your image it shows what appears to be each of the regions highlighting separately. Al that I have been able to do is to get the entire track to highlight from beginning to end, including the spaces between regions.

Even if I “Select All” nothing happens….

I guess I’m confused. As an example of your timeline, do you have say 200 5 sec events or do you have one 1000 sec long event that you want to break up into 200 5 sec intervals? I was assuming that you already had multiple events. Please clarify. As stated, a screen shot of your timeline would be most useful.

Here is the workflow. I start with a 3 hour clip on the timeline. I then scrub through making region pairs as needed. Making In-Out-R precisely where needed. And not based on intervals. I usually end up with 200-400 of these Regions across the entire timeline. So, what I have is all of the green region flag pairs from 1-300 etc…

The purpose of giving the regions serial number names is so that I can use Vegasaur Timeline Text Tools to add those serial number names as overlays, before rendering…

Apparently, you hit the solution button and your last post was deleted, or maybe you’ve solved the problem? Too bad you hadn’t posted your workflow earlier. So basically, you’ve already defined your regions. Is it OK to simply delete footage not within those regions from the timeline? If so, then it will be pretty simple. Under the Tool tab in the Marker window, tick Keep/Delete Events and choose Keep Inside Regions for selected tracks. Now your track will be broken down into events. Then close the gaps for the selected tracks (1-click command). Back to the Marker window, delete regions. Then create the regions using the procedure I first outlined with the names. To try this, I would first do a Save As to a new Vegas project file. In the event things go awry, you can always get back to your original work.

This function creates a new region with a new name in place of the existing region.
In fact, this is the renaming of the existing regions….

I will try that. Is there any way to have the sequence numbers start at 001,002,003 etc… instead of a single digit?

No, Markers tool has no such functionality.
There is another way, a bit more complicated:

1. Prepare a text file with your labels, like this:
D875-C-001
D875-C-002
D875-C-003
D875-C-004
…etc.
D875-C-300

You can easily prepare this list in Excel/Open Office etc.

2. Copy this text to clipboard and paste it in Edit Details window
