  • Recorded audio speach in big hall. How to get rid of the echo?

Posted by Allen Zagel on April 24, 2006 at 12:36 am

    Hi
Had to shoot a video today and the room was not good for audio. It was speech only, no music. The audio’s got what sounds like a echo in it or maybe best described as a hollow sound.

Not sure which FX to use in V5 to make it sound more like a studio recording.

Can anyone give me some ideas? Maybe EQ but which one?
    Thanks
    Allen

I had a similar situation – big room, but want it to sound like a small room – more intimate. Just for the heck of it I used Noise Reduction – sampled just a teeny -tiny portion of the ambience. Holy Cow – it was like magic, no teaking or nothing, it went from big empty hall to intimate carpeted room instantly. I really recommend giving it a try, just might do the trick, I was amazed at how well it killed the ambience.

    Thanks Yoyodyne

Problem is there was no ambience. Not a pin drop until he started talking. I do have Sony’s noise Reduction. I guess I could try to catch some of the echo just after he stops talking and try it.

There is always ambience. I just did the noise reduction thing last night as a matter of fact for my podcast to try to reduce the echo. Incredible results. Give it a go.
