Problem with open .veg files in different Vegas Pro 9.0 programs
A few years ago i worked in Spain with SV Pro 9.0 and edited a few (15) video’s (and saved a lot of .veg versions). But the company i worked for got broke and i took the Hard Disk (HD) with the files and the footage along (with permission) and went back to the Netherlands.
Here i tried with another PC and another SV Pro 9.0 to open the Spain- .veg files on the original HD (connected as an extern drive) but i got this message:
(i’m not sure the photo uploaded)But very strange. A very few “.veg” opens (i think the simple ones), but the majority don’t.
(different files from different software programs like “Audacity”, “Irfanview”, “Gimp” etc. give no problems).
I can open the test-renders (small format) but that’s of course not what i want.
And: Years before i did the same with two different SV Pro’s 9.0 (in the Netherlands) and there was no problem at all.What did i trie:
I tried to open the .bak files (by dragging), but no.
I copied the files (the total map) to the Dutch-PC, but no.
But, with the Dutch SV Pro 9.0 i edited a video on the (extern) Spain-HD using the Spain-footage and saved it on the Spain-HD as a .veg. And yes, i can open it. But to edit all the programs again will be a torture.What can be the problem?
Maybe another “build” version (i can’t believe), but i can’t verify that anymore.
How can i solve it?

What is the error message?You don’t “drag” the .veg.bak file, you rename it to newname.veg

Thanks for your reaction and suggestion, Steve.
I did what you suggested, but i become the same error-window.
But i’m not shure i did it well.1) On the spanish-HD i renamed the xyz.veg.bak in xyz-a.veg.
2a) Then i tried the ‘xyz-a.veg’ to open by double clicking. >>> Same error-window.
2b) First i opened SV on the dutch-HD and with ‘open file’ i went to the extern spanish-HD and tried to open the ‘xyz-a.veg’. >>> Same error-window.I sent the error-window in the post after the first but i do it again in this post:

Are there any embedded veg files in the project that you are trying to open?

I suppose you mean i put (used) a .veg file into a .veg file.
No, i used only original footage (photographs, music, effect-sounds and a lot of ‘scrob/pan’ and ‘event FX’).kindly regards, theo

Post your veg file here and let’s see if I get the same error. I should just get “media not found” errors.

It loaded here in Vegas 12 with no errors other than missing media. I don’t have Version 9 installed anywhere so I couldn’t test that. Maybe you can find someone with Version 9 to try loading the veg.

I tried it in Pro 9 and, other than the missing media, it opened up just fine.

Mike, what if you do a save-as to a new name, still in Version 9, then post it back for Theo? It’s a long shot, but…
Theo – move your media files to a new location so that Vegas won’t know where they are, then try to load the project again. If that loads fine, move a few of the media files back to where Vegas expects to find them and see if it loads again.
