  • Problem PTT from Timeline “Copy Inhibit” warning???!!!!

    Hi
Time for some help from you “pros”. Vegas 5.0d. Never had this problem before and can’t figure it out.

Got a project finished on the time line. I took the video, did the editing. Set a tape in my Sony GV-D1000 selected the entier timelilne for printing to tape. Set a 20 second color bar.

3 times I tried to PTT and 3 times the recording stopped at 27m 19s 26f. Thought my editing deck had gone bad and I just got it back from a warranty repair. So just now I connected my VX2000 and started the PTT process again and watched it on the LCD screen on my camera. Now I see the “COPY INHIBIT” warning and the recording stops. The playback continues though as nothing happened.

I have checked everything I can think of. Capture folder’s properties said “read-only” so I unchecked that but it comes back. I haven’t changed any settings I can think of in Vegas. Never had this before.

Does anyone have any ideas? I can render to an AVI then PTT using the PTT function in the capture utility and that works though but it’s an extra step and I need the color bars at the beginning.

    Thanks for any help.

Allen, I haven’t any ideas about what’s causing your present problem, but honestly, update to Vegas 6.0d – you can try the demo first – you will then gain many many excellent new features, plus, without knowing why, I wouldn’t be surprised if your Print to Tape would then be ok.

p.s. If you don’t want to to go this way, you can always add the Colour bars to the timeline before rendering the avi.

You have some video noise at that point that is being interpreted as copy protection. At that point, wipe out the top four scanlines and all should proceed well.

    Hi Ed
Wow! Didn’t even think of that one. How do I do that? Pan & Crop and enlarge the video out of the safe area? Think I had to do that one time a while ago but forgot how I did it.

    Thanks

You could try that – either Pan/Crop so that it enlarges slightly OR just crop the top edge off. Or you could just put a black generated media above the clip and move it up so that it only covers the top few scanlines.

    Okay Thanks Ed.
I used P&C and enlarged it slightly. If I now remember correctly I had this once before a few years ago. Really throughs you for a loop!

I thought before I created a 2 or 4 pixel black bar in PSP and covered the frame to solve the problem also.

It’s printing to tape now and is at 10m so in 17 minutes I’ll know if I did it right.

Sorry about not responding to your suggestion but as of right now, I’m going to wait for V7. It’s too close for 7 to get 6 anymore. Hopefully! HA!

Well, on this tape nothing I did helped the situation. So I just ran the AVI to tape via the capture utility. I tried Pan & Crop as well as hanging a black generated media top and bottom. Actually the tape was quite “noisy”. Not one of my better tapes. Picture quality was good though, just something hidden that prevented me from using PTT. I just got my GV D1000 back from warranty service and thought that was still messed up but when I tried PTT using my camera I got the same thing at that point.

    Thanks for your help anyway.
