July 16, 2014 at 3:49 pmIf you hold option on “gather windows” it should turn to “detect displays”. Does that work?
Do you have any extenders or adapters beyond the dvi cable?

July 16, 2014 at 4:02 pmThe gather windows button does not show up at all when booted with the 680. The old Cinema displays are directly connected. No adaptors or extension cables. Thx

July 16, 2014 at 4:52 pmThen just hold the option button. Detect displays should pop up in the lower right corner.

July 16, 2014 at 4:57 pmDid you uninstall the old one first? If not try it, reinstall and try again.

July 16, 2014 at 5:47 pmSearched for how to uninstall the driver. Can’t seem to find the
/System/Library/Extensions/CUDA
/System/Library/StartupItems/CUDA
/usr/local/cuda/lib/libcuda.dylibfiles. Deleted the
/Library/Frameworks/CUDA.framework
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.nvidia.CUDASoftwareUpdate.plist
/Library/PreferencePanes/CUDA Preferences.prefPanefiles and restarted. No Cuda driver in the prefs pane, downloaded the driver from nVidia site and rebooted to same issue. So I assume I need to find these files and delete them as well

July 16, 2014 at 6:50 pmOK found all the files and trashed them again. Downloaded the web driver from nVidia and installed that. rebooted and only one monitor. Went into pref pane and selected use OS default drive and restarted, no change. Then downloaded the native driver and updated that. rebooted = no change

July 16, 2014 at 7:25 pmAnd you reboot to Lion and it works again?
If this is so, it might be time to think about reloading Mavs.

July 16, 2014 at 8:12 pmHmmm. All I can tell you is I went through this same dance with a slightly different config. Kept getting error messages about Nvidia software not being compatible. Just yesterday there was a new update on nvidia and when I uninstalled installed and so forth it now seems to be working with nvidia cuda and card driver. Bottom line was the latest Mav OS broke it and now its fixed. I also needed to update the one for black magic to drive my broadcast monitor.

July 17, 2014 at 1:01 pmI have tried following directions from an Apple post on how to re install the os. At the grey boot up screen hit command – R and select re install. However on my machine I do not get this option. Is there another way to re install Mavs with out building up a new drive? Thank you all for you help!
