Greetings folks! My post studio recently moved a bunch of editors from FCP to Premiere. All experienced editors, and most of them are having the same experience with Premiere losing render files, ofttimes inexplicably.

In my case, I edited a big multiformat project, and rendered the timeline. Plays great.

Then I moved the project to another drive, but kept all the file paths exactly the same, and it can’t find the renders.

I guess I sort of get that there might be a challenge when moving drives (though FCP does not have this problem, and you can re-link render files manually if needed)…

But here’s the weird thing… the timeline still says that it’s rendered. Green line all the way down, but “Media Pending” errors.

The only way I can get my project to play is to delete the render files… which it says it can’t find.

Any help on how Premiere deals with render files would be greatly appreciated. Awesome program… but this is baffling!

    thanks,

    Tom
