I am very new to using Adobe Premiere. I have several .mpg files on my computer that I would like to edit using the program. I have been reading online that MPEG files can be iffy if used in this program. I can view them in windows movie maker just fine but when I import into adobe, the picture starts out with a green screen then my video will show up. Also, the sound doesn’t play at all and I get this error:

    Adobe Default Windows Sound Driver
    High Defintion Audio Device
    Errorcode FFA-8-000D [80040154]
    Info
    Playback failed.
The audio system does not seem to respond. Maybe card does not support full duplex mode.

Does anyone know what is going on? Do I have to get some kind of converter in order to use the .mpg files and be able to hear the sound? I’m not even quite sure what settings I am supposed to use if I am just editing video that was already on my hard drive. I am sorry for all of the questions but I want to know what I am doing. I am supposed to take a class in about 3 or 4 semesters from now to learn how to use Adobe Premiere but I have been wanting to learn ahead of time and was planning on making a fan trailer for a video game I like.

Any suggestions or links to beginner tutorials would be appreciated. Thanks.

well, i have had that happen b4 as well. if it will play in movie maker, rerender the file out of movie maker in movie maker’s AVI format. That will play on a P-Pro timeline and be editable. if it doesnt, then it is possible that the file is corrupt.

    good luck

oh, if you wanna get a jumpstart on p-pro….go to https://www.lynda.com
for 25 bucks you can watch full tutorial vids from starting p-pro to advanced editing stuff.
